Update 4 Apr 09 - We offered this trip on Mar 09 to catch the "Firecracker" Festival at Chengyang which on falls every year on 3rd day 3rd month of the Chinese Lunar Calender but had insufficient members. 2010 trip will coincide with the Chinese New Year which falls on 14 Feb.The Dong Minorities celebrate CNY by also having Weddings over the few days, usually 30-40 wedding ceremonies. Being CNY, early flight and hotel bookings are essential. So we must get the min numbers to confirm EARLY. So register NOW. Its obviously best to book the Air Asia flights early. Once we have the min pax, we will get everyone to purchase the flight. Note however that the lower cost flights on Air Asia has the usual restrictions re cancelation and name changes.

Longsheng Rice Terraces from different angles / Longmen 4-Star Hot Spring Resort

Day 1 Ping An: The group assemble at LCCT for the morning flight 0640 by AK102 to Guilin on Air Asia. Will arrive at 1040AM and take bus to Ping'an. the home of the Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces. From the bus stop, it is another 40mins walk up a steep incline to Pingan Village, our night's accommodation. It is another 20mins walk to get the viewpoint but the scenery is marre by rather thick clouds. The minority here are the Yao and are famous for their meter-long hair women, pink embroidery and heavy silver earings. ON Ping An.
Day 2 Dazhai: The scenic and undulating trail to Dazhai Village will take up most of the day, as we move along the rice terraces and hills. It is a beautiful walk as we can see the real China. Group can opt for porterage service that cost a mere Rm30 for the day's trek. Our hotel overlooks the entire hills of rice terraces and mountains. Simply breathtaking! ON Dazhai.
Day 3 Longmen: What better way after beautiful long walks then to spend it relaxing at the Longmeng Hot Springs, a four-star spa resort comparable to the ones in Japan. ON in a Guesthouse at the Longmen Hot Springs.
Day 4 Chengyang: Bus to Chengyang. ON Chengyang.
Day 5 Chengyang: Today we will not miss the oppoturnity to enjoy Fulu Firecracker Festival which only held once in a year with local people. ON Chenyang.
Day 6 Chengyang: We have a free day today visiting the nearby village and the famed Wind & Rain Bridge. It is a relaxing stay as Chengyang is a small village with a small population of Dong minorities. Pretty fields of growing rice fronted the hotel. In the evening we can opt for a Dong song and dance performance in the village ground. ON Chenyang

Day 7 Yangshuo:
The pleasant walk to the bus station will take us an hour. We bus back to Longsheng to catch the express bus to Guilin 70km 2.5hrs. Here we change to a Yangshuo bus 70km 1hrs. Yangshuo is a very popular backpacker destination and set amid gorgeous limestone pinnacles and a wonderful laid-back place. It has a vibrant night market with numerous Western style eateries. Day 8 Yangshuo:
Bicycling to Moon Gate would be our early morning activity and the climb to the top is rewarded by great views of Yangshuo town and the surrounding karst hills. In the evening we shop and dine at the great atmosphere in the cafes and night market area of West Street. ON Yangshuo.

Day 9 Home:In the morning bus to airport, we fly back AK103 at 1110AM and reach Kuala Lumpur 1510PM

    3. Not covered are airfares (Air Asia), airport taxes & fuel surcharges, activities and meals.

    5. A deposit of Rm620 is payable to confirm your place.
    6. Cost is subject to change if there's a significant changes in foreign exchange rates and airfares.
