Online return flight tickets with Turkish Airlines is about RM2,750 online fares today. Group size is max to 14pax = 13pax + 1 Yongo leader.

IMPORTANT - THIS IS A TREKKING TRIP - with 5 days of continuous trekking. Total distance for hiking is about 95km in total, with trail rated as Moderate. Members must be fit and able to hike between 5 to 8 hours daily. There will be some challenging sections with steep ridge walk. Accommodation during the hike can be basic, especially in remote areas where toilets are on sharing basis with dorm rooms for 4-5pax.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: This is meant to be a "free and easy" adventure trip. Participants MUST BE FIT, with a good sense of humor, and above all, have the right attitude for close travel with others through possibly some trying times. Most definitely, this is not a trip for prudes, whiners, fussy-pots, and other similarly assorted types! We had a couple of those before and it wasn't pleasant for us or them. Although every effort will be made to stick to the given itinerary, ground conditions may change and cause some disruption and/or deviation from the norm. Otherwise, have fun !

  

Walking along the ridge / Trails along Peaks of the Balkans

Peaks of Balkans is an upcoming multi-day hiking trail in Europe which covers the Accursed mountain range around Albania, Kosovo & Montenegro. The full trail is about 200km, and we are covering the best sections over 5 days of daily hiking with a total about 95km. Along the way, hikers will not only enjoy the dramatic mountain scenery but also learn about the turbulent past which has left its marks along the way.

Day 1 PLANE: Assemble in KLIA 5 Sept 2027 SUN by 6:00AM for Turkish Airlines TK63 departing 8:55AM, arriving Istanbul 2:50PM. Transit in Istanbul airport for about 3.5hr. Reconnect on TK1077 departing 6:25PM, arriving Tirana 7:10PM. Transfer to Tirana hotel for 1 night stay with breakfast included. Own meals today. O/N hotel

Day 2 Shkoder 6 Sep Mon (B): After breakfast, transfer from Tirana to Shkoder about 2hr north. Check-in to our accommodation and rest of afternoon free & easy to explore the historic city. Some of the places to visit is Rozafa Castle or Lake Shkoder, which is the largest lake in South Europe shared with Montenegro. Option to try out SUP (Stand up Paddleboarding) at Lake Shkoder. Additional costs of Eu40/pax for 2-3 hr activity. O/N hotel with breakfast provided. Lunch & dinner on own.

Day 3 Valbona 7 Sep (B/D): Short transfer of about 2 hours brings us to Lake Komani. Here we take a boat ride across the lake to enjoy the amazing mountain views. We then drive about 1 hour towards Valbona for our overnight stay. Enroute, stop by Dragobi Village for a warm-up walk about 6km. Enjoy a good rest before our trekking adventure begins tomorrow. O/N guesthouse with dinner provided. Own lunch today.

Day 4 Doberdol 8 Sep (B/L/D): Short transfer about 40min from Valbona to Cerem, where we will start our hike. Today is relatively long day with ups and downs, mainly in forested section. Unique section is a brief crossing into Montenegro, before coming back inside Albania. We will also walk pass Balcina, which is a seasonal shepherd settlement. Our stay in Doberdol is one of the most scenic, as it is positioned nearby the tri-border point of Albania, Kosovo & Montenegro. O/N Guesthouse

Distance = 16km 6-7hr, highest point 1920m

Day 5 Milishevc 9 Sep (B/L/D): Today our hike continues towards the Triple peak (Tromedja) at 2,266m. We will enjoy sweeping views across 3 countries from a single mountain summit. After this, we descend down Roshkodol valley towards Milishevc , a remote shepherd's village in Kosovo. No luggage transfer to this point, big luggage will be brougfht to next village.

Trekking along Peaks of the Balkans

Day 6 Babino Polje 10 Sep (B/L/D): Our hike is relatively easier and shorter today as we cross from Kosovo into Montenegro. After border crossing, we head towards Babino Polje which is a typical Montenegrin shepherd settlement. O/N Guesthouse

Distance = 16km 5-6hr, highest 2,166m

Day 7 Plav-Vuthaj 11 Sep (B/L/D): After breakfast, we walk towards Hrid Jezero/Lake for an optional cool swim. We will be walking through forested sections towards Plav, passing through the seasonal settlement of Treskavica. From here, a dirt road brings us down to Plav. Plav is the biggest town along the Peak of the Balkans hike and members can re-stock here for snacks or medicine. Short transfer from Plav to Vuthaj for our overnight stay. O/N guesthouse

Distance = 21km 7-8hr, highest 2,236m

Day 8 Theth 12 Sep (B/L/D): Our final hiking day promises to be one of the most exciting. We begin with a 4wd drive transfer towards Ropojana Valley for the start of our hike into Prokletije National Park. The path crossing from Montenegro back to Albania will be the craggiest section. Rewarding hikers with stunning steep mountain views and historical remains of the Communist era with bunkers and border posts. The final descent from Peja Pass to Okol is a steep zig-zag trail over loose scree, so hikers must be extra careful here. We finish our hike at Theth with our final celebration dinner included. O/N Guesthouse

Day 9 Tirana 13 Sep (B): After breakfast, private transfer brings us 5-6hr back towards the capital city of Tirana. Check in to hotel for final night stay before flight home next day. O/N hotel with breakfast provided

Day 10 PLANE 14 Sep (B): Free morning for final shopping or own exploration. Final transfer for our evening flight out from Tirana airport.Take Turkish Airlines TK10788 departing 8:00PM, arriving Istanbul 10:45PM. Transit 3hr. Members have the option to extend their stay in Tirana to explore more of the city or explore southern part of Albania on a self-drive trip.

Day 11 Home: Reconnect on TK60 departing 1:45AM , arriving KLIA afternoon on 15 Sept 2027 WED 5:15PM

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. Trip Ground cost cover accommodation, meals, entrance fees, border permits and traveling to sites mentioned above. Luggage transfer will be included during the hike, except for night 5 stay in the remote village of Milishevc.
2. Accommodations will be in doubles/twins for hotel stays in the cities. During the hike, stays will be in guesthouses and can be between 4-5pax maximum with shared toilets
3. Not covered are return flight fares & airport taxes, meals (Rm70 x 7 meals= Rm490) , alcoholic or soft drinks during meals included and tipping for guides and drivers.
4. Cost is subject to change depending on fluctuations in exchange rates and ground costs due to fuel price changes in 2027.
5. A Non-Refundable deposit of Rm2,800 will be payable to confirm your place.
