2- 11 Dec 2005 10-days Indochina Express (Angkor Wat & River Kwai Death Railway) Costs Rm2,700 minimum number 10
IMPORTANT NOTICE
This is meant to be a "free and easy" adventure trip. Participants should be relatively fit, with a good sense of humour, and above all, have the right attitude for close travel with others through possibly some trying times. Most definitely, this is not a trip for prudes, whiners, fuss-pots, and other similiarly assorted types! We had a couple of those before and it wasn't pleasant for us or them. Although every effort will be made to stick to the given itinerary, ground conditions may change and cause some disruption and/or deviation from the norm. Otherwise, have fun!

Cambodia is just opening up to tourism and we'd best be headed that way before they put up the Disneyland Ankor Wat Theme Park and Casino!! Then again, in a sea of commercial tourism like Thailand, it is still heartening that we can still get away to quiet and refreshing corners - so all is not lost I hope.
Day 1 Fri KUL to Phnom Penh: Depart KLIA late morning arriving Phnom Penh Cambodia after noon. We proceed straight to Psar Tom Puong for a bit (or perhaps a lot!) or shopping and good eating at this local market. Export garments like Columbia and export travel bags like North Face, Lowe Alpine are available at bargain prices. Overnight (ON) Phnom Penh.
Day 2 More Phnom Penh: Full day tour of Phnom Penh covering Tuol Sleng Prison, Chong Euk killing fields and the Royal Palace. ON Phnom Penh.
Day 3 Tonle Sap & Siem Reap: 0600hrs departure by express boat to Siem Reap. The 4-5 hours journey across the Tonle Sap Lake traverses diverse river scenery and village life. Arrive Siem Reap around noon and the rest of the day is free at leisure - an Angkor massage for weary bodies perhaps? ON Siem Reap.
Day 4 Angkor Wat: Full day Angkor Wat Tour - it might not be enough! ON Siem Reap.
Day 5 More Angkor Or Siem Reap: Today we explore Angkor's surrounding areas on foot or most like on bicycles. For those interested in a second day in Angkor Wat, can do so at own cost. ON Siem Reap.
Faces at Bayon Temple Angkor / Tiger Temple Kanchanburi
Day 6 Bangkok: A hard day's journey today. It will take our pick-up (ladies inside, males on the back!), about 4-5 hours to cover the rought 150kms from Siem Reap to the Thailand border - Ouch! From the Thai border, we hop onto vans for an easy 3-4 hours journey to Bangkok. Thai massage might be a good idea then! ON Bangkok.
Day 7 Kanchanaburi: Early morning departure to Kancanaburi by hired van with a stop at the Damnon Saduak Floating market - the largest in Thailand, where we stop to smell the water and whatever is in it! Arrive Kanchanaburi by early afternoon, and do a tour of nearby attractions including the much visited Bridge Over River Kwai. ON Kancanaburi.
Day 8 Full Day Tour: Van tour of Kancanaburi outlying areas, including a ride on the Death Railway, Hellfire Pass, Karen Village and do an elephant safari in the bush. Will also include a visit to the Tiger Temples where the monks raise tigers. ON Kancanaburi.
Day 9 Sat Chatuchak Market: Morning return to Bangkok, and we arrive just as the sprawling Chatuchak Weekend Market is stirring. Shop till you drop! ON Bangkok.
Day 10 Sun More Bangkok: Morning departure for those who have been to Bangkok. The rest can stay on in Bangkok at own cost for more shopping and eating. First-timers to Bangkok should not miss the Grand Palace complex and the adjoining thieves market.
Extension Note: Arrangements can be made for those who'd like to extend their stay in Bangkok. I will assist in providing info on how to get to the airport and to move about in Bangkok. The hotel that I use is next to Mah Boon Krong Shopping Complex, one of the most popular shopping complex in Bangkok and a Skytrain Station (Mass Transit System).
