IMPORTANT NOTICE

This is meant to be a "free and easy" adventure trip. Participants should be relatively fit, with a good sense of humour, and above all, have the right attitude for close travel with others through possibly some trying times. Most definitely, this is not a trip for prudes, whiners, fuss-pots, and other similiarly assorted types! We had a couple of those before and it wasn't pleasant for us or them. Although every effort will be made to stick to the given itinerary, ground conditions may change and cause some disruption and/or deviation from the norm. Otherwise, have fun.

West Lake (World UNESCO Heritage side)

This will be a backpack experience using trains/ public buses/subways/taxis. Its important participants are able to manage their own luggage and backpacks are recommended. As usual, you pay for your own meals unless stated below, activities fees, within-the-town taxis and other activities.

Trip Highlights:

West Lake – sail on the lake in a local fishing boats. Regular tour normally takes huge number of passengers in large cruise ships.
Xi Tang Ancient Water Village – Visit ancient buildings and its surrounding.
HuangShan – This is a World UNESCO Heritage side. We visit HuangShan scenic spots with overnight on top of the mountain. Regular tours will usually take you to/fro the mountain in cable cars and with limited sight visits.
HungCun & Si Ti – Both are World UNESCO Heritage sides famous for their ancient villages. Explore the rich histories and cultures of these villages and learn the unique architecture of Ming & Qing Dynasty.
SuZhou – We will spend 2 days here to explore the beauty of this city with its famous garden landscape. Visit Lion Grove, which is also one of the UNESCO World Heritage sides.

Si Tang – Ancient Water Village

Day 1 KLLCCT and West Lake ( Awaiting World UNESCO Heritage side) : Assemble at LCCT at 6AM for Morning flight. Taking AKD7 2602 depart 0810 arriving Hangzhou 1310PM. Upon reaching Hangzhou at noon, we take an airport bus to check into the hostel, have lunch and a short rest. Proceed to visit West Lake and its surrounding area. A popular Chinese saying boasts "above there is heaven, below there is Hangzhou "; Marco Polo marveled at the beauty of Hangzhou that it was "the most beautiful and elegant place in the world". The serene West Lake (Xi Hu) and the surrounding hills are spellbinding. ON Hangzhou.

Day 2 Su Zhou Lion Grove (World UNESCO Heritage side) : We take a public transport to Su Zhou. The wealth accumulated since the Song Dynasty has turned Su Zhou into a green city, with sprawling garden homes alongside willow-lined canals. The old city still retains its moat and many of its finest garden today. This is a must place to see. ON Su Zhou.

Day 3 Su Zhou : Another day in charming Su Zhou. Garden of the Master of the Nets, Liu Yuan are among the places worth exploring. ON Su Zhou.

Day 4 "Tiger Running Dream Spring" (Hupao Meng Quan),and Si Tang Ancient Water Village : After breakfast, we visit Si Tang Ancient Water Village. This water village best describes Jiangnan scenery with its bridges, flowing waters and its residents - XiaoQiaoLiuSuiRenJia. The village has hundreds of years of history and the buildings are very well preserved with its residents still occupying the village houses. MI3, the movie with Tom Cruise was shot here. Proceed back to Hangzhou after a nice stroll of Si Tang.

"Tiger Running Dream Spring" (Hupao Meng Quan) - this is one of the nicest parks in Hangzhou , populated with teahouses, well-tended trees and shady pavilions. The spring remains (though the tigers are long gone) and is now one of the best-known in Hangzhou . The combination of the longjing tea and spring water is reputed to be uniquely refreshing and healthy. ON Hangzhou.

HuangShan – World UNESCO Heritage side

Day 5 Huangshan Town (Tunxi) : We bus to Huangshan in the morning with visits to Old Street (LauJie) and Huangshan Town . There are modern departmental stores at the town. ON Huangshan Town (Tunxi).

Day 6 & 7 Huangshan (World UNESCO Heritage side): Morning bus to the foothill of Huangshan. Cable car up the mountain, check in to the Huangshan hotel. See the craggy rock faces, hanging mists and clustered pines of Huang Shan (the Yellow Mountains ) that create this distinctive Chinese landscape. The mountain range hosts some 70 peaks over 1,000m (3,300 ft) that spills across the southern province of Anhui. Overnight in Huangshan. Day 5 – Walk along Huangshan, enjoy the breath-taking scenery. Later, have a good stroll down the mountain and bus back to Huangshan. ON Huangshan peak.

Day 8 Hungcun Anxient Village (World UNESCO Heritage side) : Visit HungCun village, which ancient appearance were very much preserved to a remarkable extent while many other villages had been transformed / “modernized” during the last century. Be intrigued by the town plan; the architecture of their houses and their integration with the towns' comprehensive water systems. ON Hongcun Village

Ancient Village HungCun/ Lion Grove – World UNESCO Heritage side

Day 9 Hangzhou : Early morning view Hongcun village surrounding and then Public transport to Tunxi and then connect bus to Hangzhou and visit surrounding lake areas or free and easy as members wish. One can also opt to enjoy LongJin tea in town while relaxing or take a train to Shanghai for a day trip. Group member also can opt of perfomance dance show on lake "Yin Xiang Xi Hu" by famous Director Zhang Yi Mou. ON Hangzhou.

Day10 Home : Proceed to the airport after breakfast and be ready to return home.

Cost excludes airfares (AIR ASIA), airport taxes & fuel surcharges, visa fees (Rm58), meals, entrance & activities fees and in-town taxis or bus on free days.
We do not do compulsory shopping stops common to normal China tours nor do we collect compulsory up-front tips.
Cost is subject to change depending on fluctuations in exchange rates and/or airfares.
